Miss Peato - Zeal Zone

This week in Zeal Zone, we were in Miss Peato's group learning about the training that the soldiers in WW1 did before they went to war. In this first activity, we had to create a slide with the equipment that soldiers had  with them when they went to war. I did this activity with one of my classmates, Ana. This is our last week in this round of Zeal Zone, I don't know what we are doing next week but I hope we carry on doing Zeal Zone in the same groups.

ANZAC Biscuits

Every Friday we have these classes that we call Zeal Zone. Everyone splits up into groups from A - E, and I am in group E. On one Friday, we go to one class and learn about one thing, then the next Friday we move to the next class. Last Friday group E went to Mrs Tele'a class. Her class is cooking ANZAC biscuits. For Mrs Tele'as class we split into groups and do a presentation. We have to search up the ingredients and recipes for the biscuits. Here is my groups presentation.

Future Aspiration

On Tuesday the year 7s and 8s had the opportunity of having 2 visitors. Marcus Winter and Louis Gordon-Latty. Marcus Winter aka Sandman first began as a street artist. Then he slowly starts building his way through bigger places for him to tell stories through making images with sand. How? Because he starts thinking positive instead of negative. Marcus Winter told us if we have a dream, first vision yourself doing it and maybe when you grow your dream might come true.

Marcus had struggle a lot in school. He showed us his report from when he was younger than us. On the report it said that he is very good, but he spends a lot of painstaking time on writing. Marcus told us many jobs where he got bounced (rejected) from. But he said even though he got rejected from a lot of jobs, he just kept trying again. Yes, he did not get accepted into all the jobs he applied for but one. He became a sand artist. His job is telling stories, drawing images on sand. That’s why he is called Sandman. Now Marcus Winter works on big cruise ships that travels around the world.

Later on it was time for Louis Gordon-Latty. Louis is a basketball player and he started when he was very young. But playing basketball is not the only thing he does. Louis created an ipad app that is produced for sports. It records you while you are playing. Why did he create this app? Have you ever played a sport and you had a good moment? Maybe like you got a try or a goal? Well Louis created this app because he wanted to experience the good moments that happened all over again. So now about 3 - 4 people work for him.

Having the opportunity for them to come was great! I have learnt a lot from both. My favourite quote that Marcus Winter said was “Do more of what makes you awesome”. The meaning of this quote is that, if you're good at, maybe writing. DO MORE OF IT!! Because if that what makes you awesome, then do more and more of it, and also think positive not negative. So kids around the world, if you have dream job for when you grow up. Visual yourself doing your dream job, and maybe, maybe,  it might come true.

Animals at War

Today Mrs Tele'a has taught us how to make inferences. This presentation will show you what I have inferred. She told us this work was actually for younger children than us, but it was still very difficult. Luckily Mrs Tele'a explained it to us really well and it made me understand very clear about what I was doing.

My goal for this presentation was to actually know what I was inferring to. The main slide that we had to work on was slide 4. We had to get some texts from the article that we were reading about and connect it to my life. Then we had to write what we infer about the text. Enjoy!

Communication Technology in WW1

This presentation will fill you with information about the Communication Technology that I have researched about. It was very hard to find a lot of information. But now I know a bit more about this technology, and I hope when you're reading this you will know too!

Treaty of Waitangi Project

For our extension, Mrs Lagitupu gave us a task last term to create a DLO presentation, or movie to show what the 3Ps meant during the Treaty of Waitangi was signed. Also how the 3PS affects us Pt Englanders, after 175 years! This movie that you'll be watching will fill you with facts about the 3Ps then, and now at Pt England. Enjoy! This movie was created by: Ana Josephine and I.

Fractions

This presentation shows many different ways to draw 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 and 1/5. I had really struggled to find many different shapes to draw the fractions. But now I have figured it out and wanted to show you. Take a look!

My symbol

Our task for Zeal Zone was to find and create our own symbol to commemorate the wars. My symbol that I have created is basically a dove carrying a ribbon heart. The heart in my art work represents the soldiers and their love for the country who they have fought for, and as they pass on they go to Heaven. So the dove is carrying the soldiers to Heaven. That is what my symbol represents.

Help Jordenne!

Here are your questions Mrs Tele'a! Figure it out guys.
